West Coast Number Theory
West Coast Number Theory conference will in Pacific Grove, CA this year. Check out the website in September for updates on exact location and dates.
MathFest 2024
On Thursday, 9:30am, I will present on what I have experienced in my research collaborations and provide some ideas for People over Mathematics: Setting Up An Effective Research Group.
JMM 2023 AMS Special Session: Rethinking Number Theory
Rethinking Number Theory believes that number theory should be not only accessible, but enjoyable to everyone. They work towards creating a joyful collaborative research experience, where people are valued and uplifted.
On Wednesday, 10am I will present the latest work from our Rethinking Number Theory group on Connections in Codes, Lattices, and Vertex Operator Algebras.
West Coast Number Theory Conference Commemorates John Brillhart
We will be honoring John Brillhart this year during this year's West Coast Number Theory conference, December 15-19th. Details will be forthcoming.
Linear Recurrences and Powers of Primes
In Morocco, at the International Conference in Algebra, Number Theory and Their Applications,
we consider the Diophantine equation made up of linear recurrences and powers of primes. I will briefly outline results from students from B. Ha, L. McBeath, and L. Velasco in which they prove the existence of an effectively computable upper-bound on the non-negative integer solutions of a family of Diophantine equations, extending work of Pink and Ziegler, Mazumdar and Rout, Meher and Rout, and another result of Ziegler.
At Home With Factoradic Happy Numbers
After a quick introduction of myself, we will briefly explore factoradic happy numbers. Then I will outline the proof that there exist arbitrarily long sequences of e-power factoradic p-happy numbers for e=1, 2, 3, 4.
An invited Colloquium talk with the University of Kentucky. Contact me to request access.
Of Card Tricks and Happy Numbers
You might wonder what card tricks have to do with happy numbers and how numbers can be happy in the first place. Come and out! During the EPaDel MAA Fall Section Meeting I'll explain what the connection is and show you some neat results about sequences of happy numbers. Register to join.
Finding Your Voice in Math/Stat
A panel and discussion with Williams College students, faculty, and alums
about finding our voice as underrepresented groups, led by Prof. Pamela Harris. The panelists are
Professor Goedhart,
Carolina Martinez ’21,
Liz Pierce ’08,
Thandi Steele ’22,
Professor Tupper, and
Teresa Yu ’20.
This event is jointly sponsored by the Williams College American
Statistical Association student chapter and the Williams College Association for Women
in Mathematics student chapter. To join visit the Williams Event page.
